The Fall 2011 issue of T E News is devoted to the topic of Entertaiment. In it, we examine how entertainment has transformed into a huge financial empire and how it is now serving the greater good in ways that go beyond the simple amusements of a night at the theater.
The article also looks at how entertainment evolves to meet the needs of different audiences, ranging from an individual who selects personal entertainment from a vast array of pre-recorded products to an entire community of people who gather for a performance. We also look at how a story like the Iranian professional storytelling tradition of Scheherazade inspires multiple retellings in different media – from orchestral works by composers such as Rimsky-Korsakov, Ravel and Szymanowski to a film and innovative video games.
